Sheesham Furniture
Being a softwood, sheesham requires a lot of maintenance and care. Sheesham is cheapest amongst all the woods but being cheaper does not mean that they are any less than other forms of wood. With additional care it lasts longer.
Sheesham wood tries to adapt itself to the changing environmental conditions such as changing temperature and humidity. Some defects such as knots or cracks may occur on each piece that makes it even more unique. Sometimes shrinkage may also occur giving it a unique look.
To make it last longer, a lot of attention needs to be paid. Being a softwood, sheesham requires additional care in various forms. Furniture made of sheesham should be polished regularly and yacht varnish is an obvious choice because of its water proofing quality. Try to avoid long exposure to the sun as may affect varnish and consequently the wood. Put sheesham furniture under the shade to avoid longer sun exposure.
Sheesham furniture should not be kept in areas with excessive heat emission as heat may cause furniture to crack or shrink. Just like heat excessive moisture exposure should also be avoided because of which the sheesham wood may expand. A neutral room temperature should be maintained in order to keep sheesham furniture in perfect condition.
This light colored wood looks great in its natural form. But if anybody wants to match it with other accessories of the room, the wood can be painted accordingly. Take utmost care of sheesham furniture and enjoy its timeless beauty. |
